Matej Meštrović & La Scala performed “Four seasons” at Melodije Jadrana
As part of a special edition of Melodije Jadrana, an evening of classical music – “Melodije Classic”, Croatian pianist and composer Matej Meštrović, along with the renowned string ensemble from Milan’s La Scala, performed the masterpiece “The Four Seasons” by baroque virtuoso Antonio Vivaldi, arranged by Matej Meštrović, under the baton of maestro Miran Vaupotić. The string ensemble from La Scala visited Split for the first time, and on that occasion, Melodije Jadrana temporarily moved to Meštrović’s Crikvine – Kaštilac.
“This was completely sensational, magnificent, marvelous. I am grateful to the orchestra and the audience for such amazing reactions. I am especially happy because we managed to incorporate Runjić’s “Galeb i ja” into ‘The Four Seasons’ right here in Split, at Melodije Jadrana, and touch upon a sort of anthem of Split and Dalmatia,” said Matej Meštrović shortly after the performance.
The concert was marked by top-notch technique and the full sound of the orchestra, performing in this venue for the first time.
“Fifteen years ago, I came to Split for the first time and fell in love with this city, and tonight it was an exceptional honor to perform Vivaldi in Meštrović’s arrangement. Playing music with Meštrović is a true joy; he is a great musician and a wonderful person who possesses all the qualities of a top-notch musician of today,” said Davide Alogna, a soloist from La Scala.
“It is an immense pleasure to collaborate with the top musicians of La Scala, who were thrilled by the blend of the Italian virtuoso Antonio Vivaldi and Matej Meštrović’s arrangement, which included a well-known sequence from the song ‘Galeb i ja.’ This special addition delighted the local audience,” said maestro Miran Vaupotić.
It was an unforgettable evening, and we are especially looking forward to future projects, as the collaboration between Euro-Unit and our top pianist and composer Matej Meštrović has been ongoing for years. In this joint effort, Euro-Unit and Yamaha Music Europe were the musical sponsors of Melodije Jadrana, particularly the evening of classical music – “Melodije Classic,” where Matej Meštrović performed on the Yamaha C7 concert piano.
At the end of the evening, Matej Meštrović gave a short speech thanking his supporters, and Euro-Unit among them.
