42nd edition of the Samobor Music Autumn Festival
For decades Samobor Music Autumn Festival has been promoting the music of well-known world and Croatian artists, with special attention to young musicians and the opus of Croatian composers. And this year, the festival continues in that direction.
Performance of outstanding artists
From September 29 to October 8, 2017, a number of concerts will be held in Samobor, and celebrated pianist Martina Filjak will perform at the opening ceremony. The Festival will encourage the collaboration of top musicians, and this idea will be realized on Wednesday and Thursday, October 4th and 5th, when Boriva Martinić-Jerčić (violin), Gernoth Süßmuth (violin), Aleksandar Milošev (violin), Jelena Očić (cello), Monika Leskovar (cello), Jose Gallardo (piano), Martina Filjak (piano), Petrit Ceku (guitar) and Mihael Paar (clarinet) will perform. The program also features a concert of the HRT (Croatian Radio Television) Symphony Orchestra with the Enrico Dindo cellist and conductor. At the final concert, October 8th, the audience will have the chance to see and hear the Vocal Ensemble Antiphonus and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble.
Along with the performers, the festival is also focusing on composers by organizing the competition called New Note. On October 7, after the award, the Zagreb soloists will premiere the winning song of the 6th International Composition Competition “New Note Croatia 2017”. This is a song by “The Water Rituals” written by Italian composer Andrea Porter.
During the Samobor Music Autumn, the 14th International Competition of Young Artists Ferdo Livadić will be held. Six expert soloists will be presenting itself and only two of them will get the award – for the overall artistic impression and the best-performed composer of the Croatian author. The winners of last year’s competition The Saxophone Ensemble Ardemus and the Cantus Ensemble, under the leadership of conductor Berislav Šipuš, will perform “In modo classico” by Davorin Kempf on the final evening of the 3rd October.
From September 24th to September 29th, time is reserved for Marimba Week, 5 percussion virtuoso concerts, as well as a Masterclass concert under the direction of Ivana Bilić.
