2. International Saxophone Competition Josip Nochta
From April 23. to April 28. 2017, Music Academy Zagreb will host the 2nd International Saxophone Competition Josip Nochta. The first competition was held back in 2014. That same year the 90th anniversary of Josip Nochta’s birth was celebrated, the first saxophone professor at the Music Academy Zagreb, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Adolph Sax, the father of saxophone and a renowned designer of musical instruments. The competition is held every three years and the main goal is to strengthen the contribution and further develop the performance and creative affirmation of this very special instrument, saxophone. The competition will take place in three rounds. The first two rounds will last up to 20 and 45 minutes and the contestants will perform three concerts. In the final round, the contestants will perform two compositions with the support of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Tomislav Faćini.
