[POSTPONED] 12. Zagreb Jazz Festival (Jazzg)

[ POSTPONED ]

Due to epidemiologic situation, 12. Zagreb Jazz festival is postponed.

12. Zagreb Jazz Festival (Jazzg) u Kinu SC!

Dan Tepfer Trio, Seamus Blake Quartet i Antonio Faraò Trio will perform at this year’s 12th Zagreb Jazz Festival (Jazzg)! The festival will take place in Zagreb’s SC Cinema starting at 7 pm and will run from 24th until 26th of November 2020.

“This year’s program and the whole festival, we have adapted to the current situation and will be held in compliance with all epidemiological measures. The true greats of jazz are coming to Zagreb. Antonio Faraò and Dan Tepfer studied classical piano at musical academies, and they continued with jazz. Dan Tepfer still plays classical music with numerous philharmonic orchestras and is very famous in the world of classical music as he often plays Bach and Goldenberg variations. Faraò is an Italian who belongs to the top of the world and we are good friends. All of his colleagues he plays with also live in Europe. Seamus Blake was born in Canada, established himself on the New York jazz scene, and in 2018 he moved to Paris”, says organizer Drazen Kokanovic, who has been bringing top jazz musicians from all over the world to Croatia for the last 15 years.

The number of tickets on sale is limited, so a maximum of 277 people will sit in the audience (the total capacity of the venue is 1100).

The first day of the Festival, November 24, is reserved for the Dan Tepfer Trio. New York pianist Dan Tepfer is an extraordinary talent of his generation and says he has always created music because it is his primary way of expressing himself. He gained an international reputation as a pianist-composer with broad ambitions, distinctiveness and energy – one who “refuses to set boundaries”, as the French Télérama writes.

On November 25, New York saxophonist and composer Seamus Blake will perform. He is recognized as one of the best performers of contemporary jazz. His music is known for its sophistication and daring improvisations. John Scofield, who invited him to his Quiet Band, called him an outstanding saxophonist.

On the last day of the festival, November 26, the concert will be held by the Antonio Faraò trio. Faraò’s musical sensibility, along with his extraordinary art of melodic improvisation, have contributed to his reputation as one of the most respected pianists on the international stage. Thanks to impeccable technical skill, unbridled creativity and enchanting vitality, and an extraordinary sense of rhythm, he developed a unique style. Behind this talented jazz pianist is 30 years of performing and recording with the greatest musicians, including Jack Dejohnette, Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, Lee Konitz, Bireli Lagrène, Miroslav Vitous, John Abercrombie, Toots Thielemans, Dave Liebman, Didier Lockwood, Benny Golson.

The festival will be supported by Euro-Unit and Yamaha Music Europe as the main music partners, and a Yamaha C7 concert piano will be provided for the needs of the musicians.

The price of a festival ticket for all three days is 300 kn, and the ticket price for each individual concert is 120 kn. Tickets are on sale in the Eventim system HERE and at Eventim sales points.

The concert is held according to all epidemiological measures prescribed by the Civil Protection Headquarters. Accordingly, an important note: It is not possible to buy just one seat in a group of two seats, ie two people who do not know each other do not sit next to each other. In order to maximally respect the decisions of the Headquarters, the organizers ask visitors to come to the venue earlier (the door opens at 6 pm). If you have a fever or some respiratory illness – please stay at home. Face masks must be worn properly throughout the whole concert.
