Liburnia Jazz Festival 2024. and promotion of Yamaha Rivage PM7
The International Liburnia Jazz Festival in Lovran in Opatija has been a tradition since 2001. The program offered by the Liburnia Jazz Festival is carefully curated to satisfy even the most demanding jazz enthusiasts, while also captivating and “converting” those previously less inclined to listen. The aim is to bring jazz closer to the audience and the audience closer to jazz.
This year’s Liburnia Jazz Festival will be held from 5th until 7th of July, with Opatija once again becoming a jazz stage. Over the course of three days, jazz will be played “from morning till night,” both on land and sea, from the Summer Stage to the historic terraces of hotels, on boats, along the city promenade, in the streets, and pavilions.
EURO-UNIT and Yamaha are the festival’s music sponsors, with a special emphasis on their collaboration with the Liburnia Jazz Festival organizers on Saturday, 6th of July, at 21:30 on the Summer Stage during the Richard Galliano New York Trio concert. The concert will also serve as a live promotion for the prestigious Yamaha Rivage PM7 system, with the technical staff of Euro-Unit and Remi Bourcereau, the sound engineer of Richard Galliano New York Trio, ensuring top-notch sound and experience.
Richard Galliano is a legendary French musician, the idol of every accordionist, the man who was commissioned by Astor Piazzola himself to create the French “New Musette”, as he also created the Argentine “New Tango”. Richard Galliano’s career and music were deeply marked by his meeting with Astor Piazzolla, which resulted in a deep and sincere friendship. Since then, Galliano has played with the most important jazz musicians. Chet Baker, Ron Carter, Joe Zawinul, Toots Thielemans, Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Haden, Gary Burton, Michel Portal, Biréli Lagrène, Jan Garbarek, Michel Petrucciani…, described his style as special, extremely cantabile, introspective and infectiously lyrical, calling him an “accordion poet”.
Galliano also stood out for his expressive versatility, gaining an equally solid reputation both in the classical field (he is the only accordionist with a contract with Deutsche Grammophon) and in the field of French chanson (with Serge Reggiani, Claude Nougaro, Juliette Greco, Charles Aznavour, Serge Gainsbourg. ..), achieving also “exotic” collaborations with Bobby McFerrin and Gilbert Gil.
Announcing the concert at the Liburnia Jazz Festival, Galliano said: “In the company of Sébastien Giniaux (guitar and cello) and Diego Imbert (double bass), we will approach the New Tango and New Musetta repertoire in the jazz mood, playing each concert in a completely free way, sometimes far from the score but never far from the soul of the composer.”
