Windorchestra competition in St. Lovrec

In a very complex weather conditions in Sv.Lovreč last Saturday, was held 39th time in a row meeting of brass bands – brass orchestras of Istria area.

Orchestras gathered from all parts of Istria, been there from County of Istria, Primorje -Gorski Kotar, Slovenia and Italy. 21 orchestra took part in the event, and came to Sveti Lovreč, to attend with fellow musicians at largest annual gathering of musicians in Istria. Almost 1000 of them came. Every orchestra in beginning marched through the rhythms march down the main street to district center, where all united together on the plaza in front main church. Conductor Peter Janko had opportunity to conduct orchestra of hundreds of musicians of all ages, music education, and color of their uniforms or the language they speak. Major Mrs. Giuseppina Rajko and head of municipality Marko Ljubešić Sv.Lovreč talk to gathered musicians, not only as a host but also as a main sponsor and co-organizer of this event. But in a short time , rain gloomy clouds hover over the Sveti Lovreč , and when most attractive part of the festival play song ” ‘Krasna zemljo, Istro mila’  had to stop performance, and invite all to temporarily hide out from rain in tent which was place there for that occasion . Organizers , KUD Matka Laginje , sudden rain did not discourage , and after less than an hour whole host of musicians re- assembled on the plaza and began with the concert part of the program . Charming announcer Tatjana Ljubešić, introduced to the audience particular orchestra repertoire and introduced them to the basic features of a group of musicians on stage. At the same time, at the time of announcement audience had the opportunity to look at the video wall postcard of each city or town where orchestra comes from, virtually traveling through Istria. As an additional session, the host prepared multimedia exhibition at Gallery Plaza, dedicated to the Great Jubilee of the brass band St.Lovrec, 130 years of continuous operation. Lovreč brass orchestra is the longest-running musical group in Istria , and content itself of exhibit and factual material attracted attention , given that the next to the photos were exposed and the former uniforms , instruments , notes and other items related to the activities of Lovreč brass bands, and even transport vehicles which were then used . In addition to the above also were shown videos and recordings. Authors of setup are young members of the orchestra, Toni Moric and Ivan Hrastovčak, both masters of history, who are pleased to present to the audience this interesting project. At the end of the official program, performed a visiting Brass orchestra from Koper, thrilled all present with quality, performance and selected repertoire. The concert last over four hours, so audience should receive credit on patient and the largest audience that has absorbed sounds and harmonies from the stage. Finally, flag of the meeting president of the host, tireless Damir Matosevic gave to the hands of the representative from “pihalnega Orkester Breg” from Valley (San Dorligo della Valle) in Italy, which for first time was taken to their place. After the official part, the musicians and their guests were moved into tent at elementary school, where the party lasted until the early morning hours
